| Bhubaneswar: To explore the various options whereby the nation could improve the ecosystem for entrepreneurship and create a favourable climate for the same, National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), a non-profit initiative working to inspire, educate and support new and future entrepreneurs kicked off the 'Entrepreneurship Week'on Saturday at Xavier Institute of Managements (XIM) Campus. More than 165 institutes and nearly 400 students thronged the campus to participate in the awareness campaign about the entrepreneurship.
The first day of the campaign saw Ashok Singha of Verve Consulting, Bamdev Mishra of Hello Orissa and S Nanda of KinaBika.com making speech. Prof Rakesh Basant, IIM Ahmedabad, who was present on the first day, said, "This sort of participation of the students is important, as it helps them think beyond "mainstream" careers and their immediate environs. An entrepreneurial culture will be critical for India to achieve a higher growth based on innovation and R&D. E-Week would help create a platform that allows students to take their business ideas to the market."
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon also participated and added, "With NEN, I see a vision and a synergy that allows the creation of an ecosystem that nurtures the spirit of an enterprise. Employability and empowerment through entrepreneurship is a pragmatic path ahead for India. We must create an environment that inculcates a spirit of challenge and risk taking. The ability to face failure is part of this challenge where perseverance pays. I am also glad that the Planning Commission is planning to set up an incubation fund for entrepreneurs."
