Looking at the radiating persona of Biocon Chief, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, with her power, successes and awards, it would be hard to imagine that she could ever have failed.

But she has, several times over - as she herself confessed at Fusion, E Week's closing ceremony. While speaking at the closing ceremony of E Week in Bangalore, she advised entrepreneurs to never give up, and not be afraid of failures. "I only have one message for young entrepreneurs: Do not fear failure. We have grown up in a culture that teaches us to be afraid of failure. We are constantly made to feel that we have to succeed from Day One. This stops us from taking risks and halts our growth," she said. Perseverance is what kept Kiran going. "As an entrepreneur, you must be prepared to fail. The trick is to pick yourself up and try again to succeed. Success will definitely follow," she assures the crowd.

Entrepreneurship Week (E Week) India, the weeklong public awareness campaign on entrepreneurship in India by National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), ended at a closing ceremony in Bangalore on February 9.

According to NEN, during the week more than 2500 entrepreneurship events and activities were hosted demonstrating extraordinary entrepreneurial energy amongst students from across the country. Over 50,000 people took the E Week India 2008 nation-wide 'Pledge' to support entrepreneurship in India. Spread across 30 cities and towns in India, the second E Week India had participation from about 2,00,000 across the country, doubling that of last year.

NEN co-hosted E Week 2008 with over 270 member colleges from across the country along with entrepreneur support associations such as TiE, IVCA, IAN, Proto.in and Dare. E Week 2008 was supported by corporate sponsors including HSBC, Himalaya and Symphony Services. MBAUniverse.com was the Official Management Portal of E Week.
