What are the E Week 2009 Awards?

From February 7 to 14, over 370 NEN Member Institutes will come together across the country to celebrate entrepreneurship. E Week Award winners are those institutes that best embody the spirit of E Week and provide the extraordinary leadership required to make E Week a success.

This year we have added a new series of Special Awards to recognize innovation, impact, and effective public awareness campaigns.

E Week 2009 Award winners will be selected in 4 categories:

  • The E Week Champions
  • E Week Runners Up
  • E Week Honor Roll
  • Special Awards

Special Award winners will be selected in three categories:

  1. Most Innovative Event
  2. High Impact Event
  3. Most Effective Public Awareness Campaign

Who can compete in the Awards?

These awards are given to an institution. Student E-Cells of NEN member institutes compete with each other in the Championship and other competitions mentioned above. In order to compete for the awards, an institution MUST:

  • be an active NEN Member
  • have registered for Championship Awards on the E Week Website
  • have submitted the required documents for evaluation (See NOTE in the section below)

What criteria determine the Award winners?

The three main criteria determining the E Week Champions, Runners Up, and Honor Roll awards include:

  1. Awareness and Buzz created around entrepreneurship and E week
  2. Quality of Programs - innovative, creative and learning oriented
  3. Relevance to the theme for 2009 - Go Green!
In addition, Participation for at least 5 of the 8 days of the E-week will be the distinct criterion for all the E Week Champions Awards.

Indicators of each of the criteria are provided below:

1. Awareness and Buzz:

E-Week 2009 aims to create large scale awareness and excitement around entrepreneurship and 'Go Green' on NEN member campuses and in the community. Champions are expected to create this buzz, which may be indicated by:

  • Large number of entrepreneurship and 'Go Green' activities
  • High levels of participation
    • Management, faculty, students on campus
    • Community - students, faculty of other campuses, alumni, professionals, and entrepreneurs
  • Effective marketing of E Week and its activities
2. Quality of Programs:

Ideally, Champions run innovative events that are a mix of fun and serious learning. Indicators to determine quality include:

  • Thoughtfully created events with
    • Clear learning objectives
    • Sound structure, plan and content
  • Innovativeness and creativity
  • Sustainability - able to run on an ongoing basis beyond E Week
  • Ability to engage relevant speakers

3. Relevance to the theme - Go Green!

We expect that Champions will make special efforts to promote maximum awareness and knowledge of clean technology and environmentally sustainable businesses.

What documents must participating institutes provide?

Institutes participating in the E-Week Championship and other competitions will be expected to submit documentation to support the above. NEN has provided documentation templates to help present the information in a structured manner for the purpose of judging. Additionally, we are looking for photographs and copies of marketing collaterals to support, validate and enhance the documentation that competing institutes provide. You can view sample materials here to help guide you through the process.

Download:
> Documentation Template for E Week 2009 Awards
> Documentation Template for Activity Description and Planning

Please ensure that both the documents are completely and accurately filled and e-mailed to eweek[at]nenonline.org by January 31 2009.

Marketing collaterals and photographs of events and activities should be e-mailed to eweek[at]nenonline.org by February 10 2009.

What is the process for selecting the winners?

The selection process includes the following:

  1. NEN Consulting team members will nominate institutes based on the criteria listed above.
  2. E-Cells of the participating Institutes will register and submit all relevant documents.
  3. A committee will shortlist contesting institutes based on the criteria listed above.
  4. A final panel of judges including NEN team members, entrepreneurs, professionals, and academics will select the winning institutions.

Note: All NEN Institute contenders are encouraged to discuss ideas and plans with their NEN Consultants in advance to help them flesh out the details.

What do the winners get?

E Week Champions will receive their Champion Cups during the Closing Ceremony. They will be showcased on the E Week Website and the NEN website, and will be announced in NEN's ad in the DARE magazine. In addition, the press will be notified.

Two representatives from each E Week Champion institute will be flown in to receive their Championship Cups at the E Week Closing Ceremony on Feb 14th in Bangalore. As many students are encouraged to attend as possible!

E Week Runners Up, Honor Roll winners and Special Awards winners will be announced at the Closing Ceremony. These winners will receive Plaques, which will be couriered to the Principal or Director of the Institute. The awardees will be recognized on the E Week Website and on the NEN website, and the press will also be notified

When and how will the winners be notified?

All E Week Award Winners will be notified during E Week and invited to attend the Prize Giving during the Closing Ceremony in Bangalore. NEN team members will call the NEN Faculty Leaders and will e-mail both the NEN Faculty Leaders and the E-Cell Leaders to let them know.
