| The spirit of social ecopreneurship, for the students of Pailan College, is not restricted to the campus gates. Touching the lives of hundreds of agriculturists living in the surrounding villages of this institute, these students have launched a door-to-door awareness campaign that not only focuses on saving the environment, but also saving the farmers' hard-earned money.
Water conservation, waste management and organic farming stay top in their agenda. Using pamphlets written in Bengali, they teach farmers various methods to utilize cow dung, and promote natural ways of soil treatment.
"We are creating a sense of vested interest among them to conserve their local resources. By using insecticide, they are contaminating the ground water, which they use for drinking purposes. So we are going to take classes for them in the institute where we will promote the organic way of farming. With our efforts, we hope to help them run their small businesses well," explains Amrita, an E Cell member of Pailan College.
