With huge cheers, spectacular dance
performances, lively speeches, trophies distribution, and, of
course, a roaring crowd, E Week 2009 came to a rapturous end at the
Jyoti Nivas College premises in Bangalore. Congratulations to every
one who joined in making E Week 2009 a grand
success!
E Week 2009: Bigger and Better Than
Ever
This year E Week saw over 3,50,000 students
from 400 institutes pulling all stops for 7 heady days of
activities. The scale of events and the incredible energy on display
from students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, and professionals has
transformed E Week into a true national
movement.
By our estimates, over 3000 events were
conducted across 30 cities, reaching beyond campuses to the public
at large. In line with our theme this year, “Go Green! The world is
our business”, a range of interactive events were organized to
explore sustainable opportunities and raise public awareness on
entrepreneurship.
Much of the action this year also spilled over
to the E Week website: Hundreds of students, armed with the latest
gizmos, e-mailed pictures, videos, and stories of activities in
their colleges. At the last count, over 350 stories and a 1000
pictures were already posted online by
students.
Exclusive
interviews with green leaders, articles
on Green businesses, and videos
on relevant topics also engaged and informed visitors on our
website.

At the Grand
Finale…
Over a 1000 people attended the Grand Finale to
celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and winners of E Week 2009.
Chief Guests at the ceremony included Kiran
Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited;
Chetan Maini, CTO and Deputy Chairman, Reva Electric Car Company;
Mohanjeet Jolly, Executive Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson
(India). While Ms. Mazumdar Shaw led the E Week pledge and inspired
the audience with her optimistic view of opportunities in the midst
of an economic downturn, Mr. Maini enthused the audience with notes
from his journey in setting up one of the world’s most successful
electric car companies. Mr. Jolly, on the other hand, delighted the
audience with a riveting session on ‘green’ initiatives and
businesses.
The evening also saw a special tribute to
Nilima Rovshen, NEN Co-founder and External Advisor, who passed away
in August, 2008. Ms. Rovshen’s instrumental role in setting up NEN
and her entrepreneurial spirit were acknowledged through the Nilima
Rovshen Creativity and Innovation Award, instituted in her memory.
