| Founded by the Government of India in 1961, IIM-A is one of the leading management institutes in the world. In 2001, IIM-A set up the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE). |

| I3E's objectives are to incubate innovation-based enterprises, as part of CIIE's overall focus on incubation and research in the role of technology & entrepreneurship in enhancing the competitiveness of the Indian economy.
I3E is supported directly by CIIE which is funded and supported by Government of Gujarat, the National Innovation Foundation and a host of organizations, professionals, academicians and networking partners within India and across the globe. IIMA became the founding member of NEN in 2003 to further enhance their entrepreneurship programs.

Each innovator shall have a small support group comprising two or three faculty members/experts to act as mentors. |

Every two months, the innovator will present her/his progress to the mentors who will provide help on aspects of commercialization ranging from market analysis, development of a business plan to prototyping, manufacturing planning etc. |

Each company will be provided with supporting infrastructure and access to resources to commercialize the innovation over a time-bound period (usually 20 months) |

The innovator should have a prototype available for evaluation by a team of technical experts. |
