| IIT Kanpur has set up the SIDBI Innovation & Incubation Centre (SIIC) in collaboration with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to foster innovation, research and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based areas. SIIC provides a platform to start-ups, prospective entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products.

| SIIC focuses on technological ideas that can be commercialized or scaled up from lab concept to a technology-business enterprise. Based on this focus, SIIC has three tiers of incubation: |

Projects promoted through IITs or other premier institutes New ventures that qualify as incubation projects initiated by one or more members of the academic staff, students and/or alumni of one of the IITs or other premier institutes, supported by the Institute or some other technology promotion agency (government or non-governmental) |

Technology startup promoted by 1st generation entrepreneur Technology-based start up company promoted by a 1st generation entrepreneur looking for R&D partnership with the Institute |

Technology/R&D unit of an existing enterprise Technology/R&D unit of an existing small/medium size enterprise, industry association or a R&D company looking for a technology partnership with the Institute |

Each successful applicant approved for membership by the Evaluation Committee will have to execute a License Agreement for space utilization with the Institute |

In addition, a bilateral MOU on synergistic collaboration with SIIC and the Institute will have to be signed and agreed upon |
