| The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), a leading catalyst of entrepreneurship education in India, today announced the launch of NEN Online, a platform to empower the entrepreneurial community.
Knowing the right people, and having the right skills are critical to entrepreneurs’ success. NEN Online enables new and future entrepreneurs to access entrepreneurship information, people and activities across the country, and so helps them to build their knowledge, skills and networks – from anywhere, any time. NEN Online also enables its users to contribute to the community – to share their knowledge and thoughts, their profiles and their activities. The dynamism and power of NEN Online arises from this give-and-take of the entire community.
NEN Online is an integral part of NEN, rather than a stand-alone portal. NEN is a non-profit organization that works with academic institutes to help them build world-class entrepreneurship programs on their campuses, with the goal that graduates enter the workforce more inclined and able to start companies. NEN team members work closely with these institutes, connecting them to NEN resources and helping to build a vibrant community of entrepreneurial students and faculty. NEN Online will support and expand these current efforts.
With NEN’s membership base of over 125 institutes across 12 regions of India, NEN Online launches with a current member user pool of over 175,000 students, and hundreds of faculty, entrepreneurs and professionals.
"We built NEN Online in self defense! Students crave interaction with students from different institutes, from different backgrounds. They want to share their ideas, activities – build diverse networks and knowledge. And we were facilitating all this by email! With NEN Online, we will no longer be a bottleneck, and students, young entrepreneurs, professionals and faculty will be able to realize their vision of building an entrepreneurial ecosystem across the nation,” explains Laura Parkin, Executive Director, NEN.
NEN Online introduces a new, comprehensive set of capabilities into the entrepreneurial community. Users are able to search and download information; find and register for activities; blog; showcase their own entrepreneurship cells; and manage and market their own entrepreneurship events. NEN has entered a partnership with techTribe, an online networking platform based in San Francisco, to offer each NEN member the ability to build their own pages, and search for other NEN members at an individual level.
"techTribe shares NEN’s passion for preparing the young entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Online networking promotes teamwork and collaboration which are necessary for professional growth. With NEN Online and techTribe, future professionals can begin to establish their identities early, and leverage the broader community for growth,” says Rohit Agarwal, CEO, techTribe Networks.
"These past weeks have been extremely exciting, as students have started to bring NEN Online to life. With students working with the beta version of NEN Online, building their microsites and putting up information about their activities, we have just started to see the power of NEN Online,” shares Leila Karnik, Director, NEN Online.
